VBMag Bearing Isolator
Hi, my name is Chris Solfelt with Inpro/Seal and we're here today to talk to you about the VBMag bearing isolator. A bearing isolator is a seal that goes on your bearing housing that protects and prolongs the life of your bearings by doing two things: one, it retains lubrication inside the bearing housing where it belongs and two, it excludes any contaminants from getting into that bearing housing.
The VBMag is a little bit different than our traditional non-contact bearing isolator which uses a tortuous labyrinth pathway to create that seal. The VBMag uses a contact force that is created by magnets within the seal that energize two precision lap faces. This allows you to seal in a very wide variety of environments including heavy oil splash, oil mist, and even flooded where a non-contact bearing isolator just wouldn't function.
The unique design of the seal which utilizes a soft face that rides against a hard stainless steel face means you're going to get very long sealing life.
